An internal team of Delta employees is completing a full review of Delta’s strategy and business plan. Jerry Grinstein announced the Strategic Review on Jan. 14 during Delta’s fourth quarter and year-end call with financial analysts and in a memo to Delta’s officers and Directors. “The goal of the project is not only to review the current strategy, but also to rethink our competitive effectiveness and best use of resources,” said Grinstein. Mark Balloun, vice president-Corporate Strategic Planning, is leading a small team of Delta employees on the project. Carl Sloane, a Harvard Business School professor and 40-year veteran of strategy consulting, is assisting the team.

Strategic Review Phases

Resulting strategy will be:

  • Distinctive: it will define what makes Delta different from our competitors
  • Inspiring
  • Achievable
  • Sustainable

Progress:
As of February 27, 70 interviews have been completed representing 80 individuals. (Some are panel interviews.)
