No Premium Increases for 2009

The annual open enrollment period begins October 29, and ends at 11:59 p.m. Eastern time on November 19, 2008. During this time, retirees and survivors can make benefit elections for 2009 and there will be generally no premium increases for retiree medical coverage for 2009!

All annual open enrollment processing will be handled online beginning this fall. This means that paper documents like benefit enrollment worksheets, plan information and confirmation statements will be available online in Benefits Direct via Employee Self-Service (ESS) and will no longer be printed or mailed to your home.

To assist you with this online transition, Delta will temporarily open centers equipped with computers and staff to assist you with the online annual open enrollment process in four cities – Atlanta, Dallas, New York, and Tampa.

Delta Account-Based Healthcare Plan (DABHP)

In a memo to retirees and survivors eligible for the DABHP, Rob Kight outlines benefit changes for 2009. Participants in the DABHP’s Gold and Silver HRA Medical Options will NOT see a monthly premium increase for 2009. There will be a small monthly premium increase for the HSA Medical Option, to be renamed the Diamond HSA Medical Option.

A second HSA medical option – the Ruby HSA Medical Option – will be added to the Delta Account-Based Healthcare Plan. This additional option will have a lower monthly premium and a higher participant cost-sharing than the Diamond HSA Medical Option.

100% coverage for in-network preventive services will be continued, which for the first time will include 100% coverage of all travel health immunizations when provided by a UnitedHealthcare network provider.

For more information about healthcare changes for 2009, visit the My Health & Insurance (requires DL Passport login) page of Employee Connection located on DeltaNet.

Delta Family-Care Medical Plan (DFCMP)

Monthly medical premiums will NOT increase for virtually all participants enrolled in the DFCMP medical options. In a separate memo to DFCMP retirees and survivors, Rob Kight shares the few prescription drug benefit changes for 2009.

For retirees and survivors participating in Lifetime COBRA, there will be an 18% increase in medical premium for 2009.
