It's a good time to check your beneficiaries
MetLife’s online beneficiary administration makes
it easy to designate and change your beneficiaries for both basic and
optional life insurance.
“Beneficiary designations should be updated regularly, especially
after major life events such as the birth of a child or change in your
marital status,” says Rob Kight, vice president, Compensation,
Benefits and Services, in a recent mailing to employee and retiree
homes.
Go to www.metlife.com/mybenefits to designate or update beneficiary
information for your basic or optional life insurance. After logging
in, select Group Life Insurance and then Beneficiary Management.
Changes will be made in “real time,” and you can log back in any time
to verify or change the information.
All previously submitted paper form beneficiary information is on file
with MetLife, but is not viewable in Beneficiary Management. To bring
it online, you can use the system to re-designate your beneficiaries.
You also can call MetLife to confirm beneficiary information submitted
in the past. Representatives, who also can help with online
Beneficiary Management, are available Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. –
11:00 p.m. Eastern at 866-492-6983.
Rob says, “After you take advantage of [this] great new MetLife
feature, you should also take the time to update beneficiary
information on your group accident insurance and your Savings Plan
account.
