As a result of last month's partial roof collapse in Terminal 2E at the Paris-Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG), Delta will prohibit Family & Friends travel to and from the French capital from July 12 to Aug. 31. This includes travel to and from CDG on Air France and all SkyTeam partners. The action does not apply to nonrevenue travel by employees, their dependents, parents or travel companions. Since the May 23 collapse, DL flights to and from CDG have operated from Terminal 2C, which now is at or above maximum capacity. “During the peak travel period in July and August, as many as 150 buddy pass travelers per day were unable to board in Paris,” said Carolyn Bloodworth, manager-Pass Bureau. “Now with the terminal collapse it would be virtually impossible to accommodate them because of space, and operationally it’s a real challenge in the relocated facilities.”
Employees should tell any of their buddy pass riders that travel to and from Paris is embargoed during this period. Those already booked to CDG during this period will be able to change their destination without charge, or they may request a refund of their yield fare tickets if they wish. Currently, but subject to change, buddy pass travel to and from CDG will resume Sept. 1. Though employee nonrevenue travel to and from CDG is permitted during this period, employees are encouraged to make alternate travel plans if possible.
