Buddy pass travel only on
DL, Song and DL Connection in '05
10/19/04
Beginning Jan. 1, 2005, Delta and its SkyTeam and
codeshare partner airlines have agreed to alter their respective buddy pass
programs and allow travel only on the issuing carrier’s network. Delta
Family & Friends guests will be permitted to fly on Delta, Song, Atlantic
Southeast Airlines (ASA), Chautauqua, Comair and SkyWest flights only. Delta
Buddy pass travel will not be permitted on either SkyTeam or other codeshare
partner airlines.
“For some time now several of the partners have
expressed concerns about their respective buddy pass programs, which include
both the economics and logistics of the programs,” said Rob Kight, managing
director-Global Benefits & Health Resources in a
memo to
employees. “Because our relationship with our partners is one of mutual
benefit and reciprocity, we have agreed to similarly adjust our Family &
Friends certificate program to permit travel only on Delta and Delta
Connection carriers.”
All Family & Friends travel on SkyTeam and any other
codeshare partners must be completed by Dec. 31, 2004. Completely unused
tickets may be exchanged for tickets on Delta, Song or Delta Connection
flights, and the $25 reissue fee will be waived in this instance. Unused and
partially used tickets may be refunded according to standard corporate
refund policies.
Pass privileges on other carriers for employees and
their eligible family members are not affected by this change. For more
information on employee pass privileges on other airlines, go to the
Pass/Travel section on the Employee Connection, or call the Employee Service
Center at 1-800-MY DELTA.
